Ohio families are in the driver’s seat!
HB 33, Ohio’s 2-year budget was signed into law this summer. It was fitting for Governor DeWine to sign the groundbreaking legislation over the July 4th holiday that gives ALL families in Ohio true educational freedom for their students.
- Universal School Choice for ALL Ohio families
- Continued phase-in of the Fair Funding Formula for public education in Ohio
- Increased funding for public education
- Increased base pay for teachers
- Increased funding for charter & STEM schools
- Increased award amounts for special needs scholarships
- Increases are in effect for the 2023-24 school year
- All education options & programs are funded separately
Educational options in Ohio have been made stronger through the passage of this legislation. Ohio is one of only a handful of states in the US who have made school choice a priority for families and is a leader in educational freedom for ALL. This win for Ohio families would not have been possible without the strong leadership of Governor Mike DeWine and Senate President Matt Huffman. We are thankful for their commitment to excellence in education for Ohioans.
When parents choose…students WIN!
Ohio’s (2 year) biennial budget included several increases to current programs such as a 12% increase for the base amount of EdChoice scholarships – $6,165 for students in K-8th and $8,407 for students in 9th-12th. Parents are now able to choose between the EdChoice Expansion (Universal School Choice) or Traditional EdChoice. The Jon Peterson scholarship saw increases in all its categories.
ALL OHIO students are now eligible for Universal School Choice!
