The Ohio Department of Education (ODE) will not be opening a second application window this year for the Income-Based Scholarship Program.
The state budget bill, signed into law in June 2017, gave ODE the ability to cancel the program’s second application window if the program’s appropriated funds were depleted by awards made to applicants who applied during the first window.
While the department is still processing applications, they have made the decision to cancel the second window based on the number of applications received in the first window.
Priority when awarding Income-Based scholarships is given as follows:
- Renewal applicants are given first priority.
- New applicants with a family income at or below 100% of federal poverty guidelines are given second priority.
- New applicants with a family income between 101-200% of federal poverty guidelines are given third priority.
Parents who would like to check on the status of their child’s application should contact their private school or check the parent portal using their SAFE account, if they have one.
